Why stick with boring textual instructions, when you can find and use a video, slideshow or document to base your instructions on? You can embed a range of different file types into the header of Task (e.g. short-text test or ePortfolio) or into the pre-test instructions of a Quiz. To do so, find the embed code for the file you want to show. Every service we support has these, but they tuck them away in different places so expect to examine the file's web page quite carefully.

Copy the embed code to the clipboard, then open the Yacapaca page for your assessment. In the built-in word processor, click the Edit HTML button at the right hand side. You can now paste the embed code directly into the word processor. Click the Update HTML button below the HTML popup and you will see your embed. Remember they usually take a little while to load, because they have a lot of data to fetch.

These are the services we currently support. If you have a favourite service you would like us to add, please let us know and we will try to add it.

In this course I am collecting examples of embeds, both for Quizzes and ePortfolios. They are intended to show you what is possible (and easy!) to achieve yourself. The are not designed as real-world teaching resources themselves.

Geological features in the landscape
On each card of this task, there is an image of landscape feature. You can click on the image to visit its source for image credits and more explanation. Describe the feature and explain the geological processes that formed it. For extra points, draw and upload diagrams to illustrate your explanation.
Halloween distractor and feedback demo (quality 96%)
This demonstration is a result of the authoring contest from 31/10/2011. Each of the distractors was written by a different teacher. The aim was to develop our understanding of how distractors and feedbacks can be linked to 'trap' specific misconceptions, and then undermine them. The aim is to leave the student burning with curiosity to learn more.

To see the feedback in preview mode, you must be logged in as a teacher. To make it easy to explore the different feedbacks, I have presented the question five times in a quiz - but it's the same question! Explore and enjoy.
Maths G&T Extension
Work at your own pace, developing one card at a time. When you feel ready for some feedback, check the "I've finished this page" box.
Water! (quality 31%)
Watch this slideshow about the global water situation, and then proceed to the quiz to test your level of comprehension.
