These tests will provide a reasonably accurate view of students' KS levels if administered according to these rules:

  • Set at least three levels of test, one at, one just above, and one just below the predicted level of each student.
  • Set two attempts per test, so students initially take 60 questions in total.
  • If a student scores at the top end of their expected range, set them the level above as well. Conversely for the bottom end.

When the students have finished, you can use the Results -> Quiz Analysis page to discover the strengths and weaknesses of the class or whole cohort. For the clearest data, set the "collate by category" option under the Advanced Search.

These tests automatically adjust their timing to encourage each student to maintain focus and motivation. You no longer need to set separate versions for students of different abilities.
